Chapter 41: Ayodhyā Suffers After Rāma’s Departure
Text 2.41.3
न क्रुध्यत्यभिशप्तोऽपि क्रोधनीयानि वर्जयन्।
क्रुद्धान्प्रसादयन्सर्वान्समदुःखः क्वचिद्गतः॥
na krudhyaty abhiśapto ’pi krodhanīyāni varjayan
kruddhān prasādayan sarvān sama-duḥkhaḥ kvacid gataḥ
na = never; krudhyati = He becomes angry; abhiśaptaḥ = if He is falsely accused; api = even; krodhanīyāni = angering [the citizens]; varjayan = He avoids; kruddhān = those who is angry; prasādayan = and pacifies; sarvān = everyone; sama-duḥkhaḥ = He shares in [our] distress; kvacit = ever; gataḥ = has gone away.
He never ever becomes angry, even if He is falsely accused. He avoids angering [the citizens] and pacifies everyone who is angry. He shares in [our] distress. He has gone away!
NOTE. These queens intelligently recognized Rāmacandra to be the factual well-wisher of all:
bhoktāraṁ yajña-tapasāṁ sarva-loka-maheśvaram
suhṛdaṁ sarva-bhūtānāṁ jñātvā māṁ śāntim ṛcchati
“A person in full consciousness of Me, knowing Me to be the ultimate beneficiary of all sacrifices and austerities, the Supreme Lord of all planets and demigods, and the benefactor and well-wisher of all living entities, attains peace from the pangs of material miseries.” (Bhagavad-gītā 5.29)
