Chapter 41: Ayodhyā Suffers After Rāma’s Departure
Text 2.41.2
अनाथस्य जनस्यास्य दुर्बलस्य तपस्विनः।
यो गतिः शरणं चासीत्स नाथः क्क नु गच्छति॥
anāthasya janasyāsya durbalasya tapasvinaḥ
yo gatiḥ śaraṇaṁ cāsīt sa nāthaḥ kva nu gacchati
anāthasya = and unprotected; janasya = people; asya = of the; durbalasya = weak; tapasvinaḥ = pitiable; yaḥ gatiḥ = our goal; śaraṇam = protector 1; ca = and; āsīt = was; saḥ = He; nāthaḥ = is the caretaker; kva nu = where; gacchati = [now] going.
Where is the caretaker of the weak, pitiable and unprotected people [now] going? He was our goal and protector.
