Chapter 41: Ayodhyā Suffers After Rāma’s Departure

कैकेय्या क्लिश्यमानेन राज्ञा सञ्चोदितो वनम्।
परित्राता जनस्यास्य जगतः क्व नु गच्छति॥
kaikeyyā kliśyamānena rājñā sañcodito vanam
paritrātā janasyāsya jagataḥ kva nu gacchati
kaikeyyā = by Kaikeyī; kliśyamānena = when he was troubled; rājñā = by the king; sañcoditaḥ = Rāma has been sent off; vanam = to the forest; paritrātā = the protector; janasya = people; asya = of the; jagataḥ = of the world; kva nu = where; gacchati = does [now] go.
Rāma has been sent off to the forest by the king when he was troubled by Kaikeyī. Where does the protector of the people of the world [now] go?
1 Rāmāyaṇa-bhāva-dīpa: ajanasya mukta-samūhasya. jagataḥ amukta-vargasya.
