Chapter 43: Kausalyā Laments for Rāma, Lakṣmaṇa and Sītā
Text 2.43.3

विवास्य रामं सुभगा लब्धकामा समाहिता।
त्रासयिष्यति मां भूयो दुष्टाहिरिव वेशमनि॥

vivāsya rāmaṁ subhagā labdha-kāmā samāhitā
trāsayiṣyati māṁ bhūyo duṣṭāhir iva veśmani

vivāsya = after banishing; rāmam = Rāma; subhagā = that fortunate lady; labdha-kāmā = she has attained her goal; samāhitā = is peaceful; trāsayiṣyati = she frightens; mām = me; bhūyaḥ = greatly; duṣṭa-ahiḥ = an evil snake; iva = like; veśmani = at home.

That fortunate lady is peaceful after banishing Rāma. She has attained her goal.1 Like an evil snake at home, she frightens me greatly.

NOTE. A famous statement of Cāṇakya quoted by Prabhupāda runs thus:

duṣṭā bhāryā śaṭhaṁ mitraṁ bhṛtyaś cottaradāyakaḥ
sasarpe ca gṛhe vāso mṛtyur eva na saṁśayaḥ

“A man whose wife is wicked, whose friends are deceitful, and whose servants are impertinent dwells in a house infested with serpents. Death is certain.”

1 Technical note: labdha-kāmā prāpta-sva-pratiṣṭhā-rūpa-manorathā.
