Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 44: Sumitrā Consoles Kausalyā
Text 2.44.12

स शूरः पुरुषव्याघ्रः स्वबाहुबलमाश्रितः।
असन्त्रस्तोऽप्यरण्यस्थो वेश्मनीव निवत्स्यति॥

sa śūraḥ puruṣa-vyāghraḥ sva-bāhu-balam āśritaḥ
asantrasto ’py araṇyastho veśmanīva nivatsyati

saḥ = that; śūraḥ = heroic; puruṣa-vyāghraḥ = prince; sva-bāhu-balam = His own arms; āśritaḥ = with the help of; asantrastaḥ = won’t be frightened; api = though; araṇyasthaḥ = residing in the forest; veśmani = in His home; iva = as if; nivatsyati = residing.

With the help of His own arms, that heroic prince, though residing in the forest, won’t be frightened as if residing in His home.

Sumitrā then anticipated that Kausalyā might fear, “Rāma might be happy in the forest. But since Bharata will become deeply rooted in the kingdom, Rāma will not be able to acquire it [upon His return].” With this in mind, she speaks the next verse.
