निशम्य तल्लक्ष्मणमातृवाक्यं रामस्य मातुर्नरदेवपत्न्याः।
सद्यः शरीरे विननाश शोकः शरद्गतो मेघ इवाल्पतोयः॥
niśamya tal lakṣmaṇa-mātṛ-vākyaṁ
rāmasya mātur nara-deva-patnyāḥ
sadyaḥ śarīre vinanāśa śokaḥ
śarad-gato megha ivālpa-toyaḥ
niśamya = upon hearing; tat = the; lakṣmaṇa-mātṛ-vākyam = words of Lakṣmaṇa’s mother; rāmasya = Rāma’s; mātuḥ = of mother; nara-deva-patnyāḥ = Queen Kausalyā; sadyaḥ = immediately; śarīre = in the body; vinanāśa = perished; śokaḥ = the pain; śarat-gataḥ = a winter; meghaḥ = cloud; iva = like; alpa-toyaḥ = with little water.
Upon hearing the words of Lakṣmaṇa’s mother, the pain in the body of Rāma’s mother, Queen Kausalyā, immediately perished like a winter cloud filled with less water.
