Chapter 46: Rāma Leaves the Brāhmaṇas to go to the Forest
Text 2.46.9
त्वया कार्यं नरव्याघ्र मामनुव्रजता कृतम्।
अन्वेष्टव्या हि वैदेह्या रक्षणार्थे सहायता॥
tvayā kāryaṁ nara-vyāghra mām anuvrajatā kṛtam
anveṣṭavyā hi vaidehyā rakṣaṇārthe sahāyatā
tvayā = You; kāryam = the needful; nara-vyāghra = O prince; mām = Me; anuvrajatā = by following; kṛtam = have done; anveṣṭavyā = I would have sought; hi = because; vaidehyāḥ = Vaidehī; rakṣaṇa-arthe = to protect; sahāyatā = assistance.
O prince, You have done the needful by following Me, because I would have sought assistance to protect Vaidehī.
Rāma spoke this verse while remembering that He had fulfilled Lakṣmaṇa’s request.
