Chapter 47: The Brāhmaṇas Return to Ayodhyā in Distress
Text 2.47.10
सा नूनं नगरी दीना दृष्ट्वास्मान्राघवं विना।
भविष्यति निरानन्दा सस्त्रीबालवयोधिका॥
sā nūnaṁ nagarī dīnā dṛṣṭvāsmān rāghavaṁ vinā
bhaviṣyati nirānandā sastrī-bāla-vayo-’dhikā
sā = that; nūnam = certainly; nagarī = city Ayodhyā; dīnā = and feeble; dṛṣṭvā = seeing; asmān = us; rāghavam = Rāghava; vinā = without; bhaviṣyati = will become; nirānandā = devoid of happiness; sastrī-bāla-vayo-’dhikā = along with the women, children and those old by age.
Seeing us without Rāghava, certainly that city Ayodhyā along with the women, children and those old by age will become devoid of happiness and feeble.
