Chapter 48: The Ladies in Ayodhyā Lament
Text 2.48.3
स्वं स्वं निलयमागम्य पुत्रदारैः समावृताः।
अश्रूणि मुमुचुः सर्वे बाष्पेण पिहिताननाः॥
svaṁ svaṁ nilayam āgamya putra-dāraiḥ samāvṛtāḥ
aśrūṇi mumucuḥ sarve bāṣpeṇa pihitānanāḥ
svam svam = respective; nilayam = their homes; āgamya = reaching; putra-dāraiḥ = by their sons and wives; samāvṛtāḥ = surrounded; aśrūṇi = tears; mumucuḥ = shed; sarve = all of them; bāṣpeṇa = with their tears; pihita-ānanāḥ = their faces were completely covered.
Reaching their respective homes, surrounded by their sons and wives, all of them shed tears. Their faces were completely covered with their tears.
