Chapter 49: Rāma Continues on Towards the Forest
Text 2.49.18
स तमध्वानमैक्ष्वाकः सूतं मधुरया गिरा।
तं तमर्थमभिप्रेत्य ययौ वाक्यमुदीरयन्॥
sa tam adhvānam aikṣvākaḥ sūtaṁ madhurayā girā
taṁ tam artham abhipretya yayau vākyam udīrayan
saḥ1 tam = these; adhvānam = along the way; aikṣvākaḥ = Ikṣvāku’s descendant; sūtam = to the sūta; madhurayā = with a sweet; girā = speech; tam tam artham = these; abhipretya = considered and; yayau = continued; vākyam = words; udīrayan = while uttering.
Ikṣvāku’s descendant considered these and while uttering these words with a sweet speech to the sūta, continued along the way.

Rāmacandra considered these features of kings in His mind. The sūta will reveal these thoughts [of Rāma] to Daśaratha later on.
