Chapter 51: Guha and Lakṣmaṇa Converse at Night
Text 2.51.13

विनद्य सुमहानादं श्रमेणोपरताः स्त्रियः।
निर्घोषोपरतं चातो मन्ये राजनिवेशनम्॥

vinadya sumahā-nādaṁ śrameṇoparatāḥ striyaḥ
nirghoṣoparataṁ cāto manye rāja-niveśanam

vinadya sumahā-nādam = having very loudly lamented; śrameṇa = [only] out of exhaustion; uparatāḥ = will cease [to cry]; striyaḥ = the women [in his inner quarters]; nirghoṣa-uparatam = will become silent; ca = and; ataḥ = then; manye = I think; rāja-niveśanam = the king’s house.

“Having very loudly lamented, the women [in his inner quarters] will cease [to cry only] out of exhaustion and I think the king’s house will then become silent.
