Chapter 51: Guha and Lakṣmaṇa Converse at Night
Text 2.51.12
अस्मिन्प्रव्राजिते राजा न चिरं वर्तयिष्यति।
विधवा मेदिनी नूनं क्षिप्रमेव भविष्यति॥
asmin pravrājite rājā na ciraṁ vartayiṣyati
vidhavā medinī nūnaṁ kṣipram eva bhaviṣyati
asmin = after Rāma; pravrājite = is exiled; rājā = the king; na = not; ciram = long; vartayiṣyati = will live; vidhavā = devoid of her master; medinī = the earth; nūnam = surely; kṣipram eva = very soon; bhaviṣyati = will become.
“The king will not live for long after Rāma is exiled. The earth will surely become devoid of her master very soon.
