Chapter 52: Rāma Crosses the Gaṅgā on Guha’s Boat

भास्करोदयकालोऽयं गता भगवती निशा।
असौ सुकृष्णो विहगः कोकिलस्तात कूजति॥
bhāskarodaya-kālo ’yaṁ gatā bhagavatī niśā
asau sukṛṣṇo vihagaḥ kokilas tāta kūjati
bhāskara-udaya-kālaḥ = is the time for sunrise; ayam = this; gatā = is almost over; bhagavatī = the enchanting 1; niśā = night; asau = here; sukṛṣṇaḥ = the deep-blue; vihagaḥ = skylark; kokilaḥ = with a kokila; tāta = dear Lakṣmaṇa; kūjati = is cooing.
This is the time for sunrise. The enchanting night is almost over.1 Dear Lakṣmaṇa, the deep-blue skylark is cooing here with a kokila!
