Chapter 52: Rāma Crosses the Gaṅgā on Guha’s Boat
Text 2.52.22
Sumantra washed his mouth with water because he had cried— a cause of uncleanliness.
इक्ष्वाकूणां त्वया तुल्यं सुहृदं नोपलक्ष्ये।
यथा दशरथो राजा मां न शोचेत्तथा कुरु॥
ikṣvākūṇāṁ tvayā tulyaṁ suhṛdaṁ nopalakṣaye
yathā daśaratho rājā māṁ na śocet tathā kuru
ikṣvākūṇām = of the Ikṣvākus; tvayā = to you; tulyam = equal; suhṛdam = a well-wisher; na upalakṣaye = I don’t see; yathā = by which; daśarathaḥ = Daśaratha; rājā = King; mām = about Me; na śocet = does not worry; tathā = that; kuru = do.
I don’t see a well-wisher of the Ikṣvākus equal to you. Do that by which King Daśaratha does not worry about Me.
