Chapter 52: Rāma Crosses the Gaṅgā on Guha’s Boat
Text 2.52.26
यद्यथा स महाराजो नालीकमधिगच्छति।
न च ताम्यति दुःखेन सुमन्त्र कुरु तत्तथा॥
yad yathā sa mahā-rājo nālīkam adhigacchati
na ca tāmyati duḥkhena sumantra kuru tat tathā
yat yathā = by which; saḥ = the; mahā-rājaḥ = the Mahārāja; na = not; alīkam adhigacchati = does become displeased 3; na = not; ca = and; tāmyati = [do that by which he] does become exhausted; duḥkhena = by sorrow; sumantra = Sumantra; kuru = do; tat tathā = that.
Sumantra, do that by which the Mahārāja does not become displeased and [do that by which he] does not become exhausted by sorrow.
