Chapter 52: Rāma Crosses the Gaṅgā on Guha’s Boat
Text 2.52.27

अदृष्टदुःखं राजानं वृद्धमार्यं जितेन्द्रियम्।
ब्रूयास्त्वमभिवाद्यैव मम हेतोरिदं वचः॥

adṛṣṭa-duḥkhaṁ rājānaṁ vṛddham āryam jitendriyam
brūyās tvam abhivādyaiva mama hetor idaṁ vacaḥ

adṛṣṭa-duḥkham = who has never experienced distress [in the past]; rājānam = king; vṛddham = unto the old; āryam = noble; jita-indriyam = and sense-controlled; brūyāḥ tvam = speak to him; abhivādya eva = offering your respectful obeisances; mama hetoḥ = for My sake; idam = the following; vacaḥ = words.

Offering your respectful obeisances unto the old, noble and sense-controlled king who has never experienced distress [in the past], speak to him the following words for My sake.

Lord Rāma wanted Sumantra to speak as His representative.
