Chapter 52: Rāma Crosses the Gaṅgā on Guha’s Boat
Text 2.52.36
तातस्य प्रियकामेन यौवराज्यमवेक्षता।
लोकयोरुभयोः शक्यं नित्यदा सुखमेधितुम्॥
tātasya priya-kāmena yauvarājyam avekṣatā
lokayor ubhayoḥ śakyaṁ nityadā sukham edhitum
tātasya = Our beloved father; priya-kāmena = to please; yauvarājyam = the position of a crown prince; avekṣatā = by accepting; lokayoḥ ubhayoḥ = in this life and in the next; śakyam = You can; nityadā = constantly; sukham = his happiness; edhitum = increase.
“By accepting the position of a crown prince to please Our beloved father, You can constantly increase his happiness in this life and in the next.”
