Chapter 52: Rāma Crosses the Gaṅgā on Guha’s Boat
Text 2.52.42
दूरेऽपि निवसन्तं त्वां मानसेनाग्रतः स्थितम्।
चिन्तयन्त्योऽद्य नूनं त्वां निराहाराः कृताः प्रजाः॥
dūre ’pi nivasantaṁ tvāṁ mānasenāgrataḥ sthitam
cintayantyo ’dya nūnaṁ tvāṁ nirāhārāḥ kṛtāḥ prajāḥ
dūre = far from them; api = though; nivasantam = are residing; tvām = You; mānasena = in their minds; agrataḥ = in front of them; sthitam = to be; cintayantyaḥ = while considering; adya = today; nūnam = certainly; tvām = You; nirāhārāḥ kṛtāḥ = have stopped eating; prajāḥ = the citizens.
Certainly the citizens have stopped eating today while considering You in their minds to be in front of them in thought though You are residing far from them.
The citizens didn’t care to eat since they thought that Rāma was in front of them.
