Chapter 52: Rāma Crosses the Gaṅgā on Guha’s Boat
Text 2.52.98
प्रनष्टजनसम्बाधं क्षेत्रारामविवर्जितम्।
विषमं च प्रपातं च वनं ह्यद्य प्रवेक्ष्यति॥
pranaṣṭa-jana-sambādhaṁ kṣetrārāma-vivarjitam
viṣamaṁ ca prapātaṁ ca vanaṁ hy adya pravekṣyati
pranaṣṭa-jana-sambādham = that is without crowds of people; kṣetra-ārāma-vivarjitam = devoid of agricultural fields and gardens; viṣamam ca = unvenly leveled; prapātam = filled with ditches; ca = and; vanam = the forest; hi = certainly; adya = today; pravekṣyati = she will enter.
Certainly, today she will enter the forest that is without crowds of people, devoid of agricultural fields and gardens, unevenly leveled and filled with ditches.
