Chapter 54: Rāmacandra Meets Bharadvāja Ṛṣi
Text 2.54.10
ततस्त्वाश्रममासाद्य मुनेदर्शनकाङ्गिणौ।
सीतयानुगतौ वीरौ दूरादेवावतस्थतुः॥
tatas tv āśramam āsādya muner darśana-kāṅkṣiṇau
sītayānugatau vīrau dūrād evāvatasthatuḥ
tataḥ tu = then; āśramam = āśrama; āsādya = reached; muneḥ = the sage’s; darśana-kāṅkṣiṇau = and, hankering for his audience; sītayā = by Sītā-devī; anugatau = followed; vīrau = the two heroes; dūrāt eva = at a distance; avatasthatuḥ = waited.
The two heroes followed by Sītā-devī then reached the sage’s āśrama and, hankering for his audience, waited at a distance.
They waited at a distance, that is, they waited for the evening agnihotra sacrifice to end.
