Rāma entered [the sacrificial arena] and after He saw the sage, He joined His palms in supplication and offered His respectful obeisances with Lakṣmaṇa and Sītā. The sage was a great soul. He was surrounded by his disciples. He was sharp in [following] his vows and focused in meditation. By the prowess of austerities, he had attained spiritual vision. That greatly fortunate sage had offered oblations unto the sacred fire.
By providence a disciple had come out [of the sacrificial arena] and with his help, Rāma entered [the sacrificial arena]. The sage had attained spiritual vision, that is, he was in knowledge of the past, present and future.
