Chapter 56: Rāma Reaches Citrakūṭa
Text 2.56.9
एष क्रोशति नृत्यूहस्तं शिखी प्रतिकूजति।
रमणीये वनोद्देशे पुष्पसंस्तरसंकटे॥
eṣa krośati natyūhas taṁ śikhī pratikūjati
ramaṇīye vanoddeśe puṣpa-saṁstara-saṅkaṭe
eṣaḥ krośati = cries; natyūhaḥ = the gallinule; tam = at it; śikhī = and the peacocks; pratikūjati = screams back; ramaṇīye = here in this pleasant; vana-uddeśe = part of the forest; puṣpa-saṁstara-saṅkaṭe = thickly covered with flowers.
The gallinule cries here in this pleasant part of the forest thickly covered with flowers and the peacock screams back at it.
