Chapter 56: Rāma Reaches Citrakūṭa
Text 2.56.23
तां निष्ठितां बद्धकटां दृष्ट्वा रामः सुदर्शनाम्।
शुश्रूषमाणमेकाग्रमिदं वचनमब्रवीत्॥
tāṁ niṣṭhitāṁ baddha-kaṭāṁ dṛṣṭvā rāmaḥ sudarśanām
śuśrūṣamāṇam ekāgram idaṁ vacanam abravīt
tām = residence; niṣṭhitām = firmly constructed; baddha-kaṭām = with water-proof materials; dṛṣṭvā = upon seeing; rāmaḥ = Rāma; sudarśanām = the beautiful; śuśrūṣamāṇam = to Lakṣmaṇa who was engaged in His services; eka-agram = and attentive to receive any further instruction from Rāma; idam = the following; vacanam = words; abravīt = spoke.
Upon seeing the beautiful residence firmly constructed with water-proof materials, Rāma spoke the following words to Lakṣmaṇa who was engaged in His services and attentive to receive any further instruction from Rāma.
The residence was firm, that is, it could not be shaken by wind and so on. It was replete with walls.
