Chapter 56: Rāma Reaches Citrakūṭa
Text 2.56.27
ऐणेयं श्रपयस्वैतच्छालां यक्ष्यामहे वयम्।
त्वर सौम्य मुहूर्तोऽयं ध्रुवश्च दिवसोऽप्ययम्॥
aiṇeyaṁ śrapayasvaitac chālāṁ yakṣyāmahe vayam
tvara saumya muhūrto ’yaṁ dhruvaś ca divaso ’py ayam
aiṇeyam = the flesh of deer; śrapayasva = offer into the fire; etat = this; śālām = for the deities of the home; yakṣyāmahe = will perform a sacrifice; vayam = we; tvara = hurry; saumya = gentle Lakṣmaṇa; muhūrtaḥ = muhūrta; ayam = this; dhruvaḥ = steadiness to the sponsor of the sacrifice; ca = and; divasaḥ api = day grant; ayam = this.
Offer the flesh of this deer into the fire. Gentle Lakṣmaṇa, we will perform a sacrifice for the deities of the home. Hurry, this muhūrta and this day grant steadiness to the sponsor of the sacrifice.
