Chapter 57: Sumantra Returns to Ayodhyā
Text 2.57.17
सोऽवतीर्य रथाच्छीघ्रं राजवेश्म प्रविश्य च।
कक्ष्याः सप्ताभिचक्राम महाजनसमाकुलाः॥
so ’vatīrya rathāc chīghraṁ rāja-veśma praviśya ca
kakṣyāḥ saptābhicakrāma mahā-jana-samākulāḥ
saḥ = he; avatīrya = getting down; rathāt = from his chariot; śīghram = quickly; rāja-veśma = the king’s residence; praviśya = entered; ca = and; kakṣyāḥ sapta-abhicakrāma = passed through the seven gates; mahā-jana-samākulāḥ = that were crowded with aristocrats.
Quickly getting down from his chariot, he entered the king’s residence and passed through seven gates that were crowded with aristocrats.
Because the king did not leave his home, these places were crowded with aristocrats.
