Chapter 57: Sumantra Returns to Ayodhyā
Text 2.57.32
सा तथोक्त्वा महाराजं कौसल्या शोकलालसा।
धरण्यां निपपाताशु बाष्पविप्लुतभाषिणी॥
sā tathoktvā mahā-rājaṁ kausalyā śoka-lālasā
dharaṇyāṁ nipapātāśu bāṣpa-viplutabhāṣiṇī
sā1 tathā = thus; uktvā = speaking; mahā-rājam = to the Mahārāja; kausalyā = Kausalyā; śoka-lālasā = had entirely given herself up to sorrow; dharaṇyām = on the ground; nipapāta = and so she fell; āśu = quickly; bāṣpa-viplutabhāṣiṇī = with tears in her eyes and in a faltering voice.
Speaking to the Mahārāja thus with tears in her eyes and in a faltering voice, Kausalyā had entirely given herself up to sorrow, and so she quickly fell on the ground.
