Chapter 58: Sumantra Conveys the Message of Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa
Text 2.58.5
क्व नु वत्स्यति धर्मात्मा वृक्षमूलमुपाश्रितः।
सोऽत्यन्तसुखितः सूत किमशिष्यति राघवः॥
kva nu vatsyati dharmātmā vṛkṣa-mūlam upāśritaḥ
so ’tyanta-sukhitaḥ sūta kim aśiṣyati rāghavaḥ
kva = where; nu = indeed; vatsyati = will stay; dharma-ātmā = that dhārmika soul; vṛkṣa-mūlam upāśritaḥ = under a tree; saḥ = that; atyanta-sukhitaḥ = in extreme happiness; sūta = Sūta; kim = what; aśiṣyati = will eat; rāghavaḥ = descendant of Raghu.
Where indeed will that dhārmika soul stay under a tree? Sūta, what will that descendant of Raghu eat in extreme happiness?
Here the king asks Sumantra to elaborate on the message that Rāmacandra had conveyed.
