वक्तव्यश्च महाबाहुरिक्ष्वाकुकुलनन्दनः।
पितरं यौवराज्यस्थो राज्यस्थमनुपालय॥
अतिक्रान्तवया राजा मा स्मैनं व्यवरोरुधः।
कुमारराज्ये जीव त्वं तस्यैवाज्ञाप्रवर्तनात्॥
vaktavyaś ca mahā-bāhur ikṣvāku-kula-nandanaḥ
pitaraṁ yauvarājyastho rājyastham anupālaya
atikrānta-vayā rājā mā smainaṁ vyavarorudhaḥ
kumāra-rājye jīva tvaṁ tasyaivājñā-pravartanāt
vaktavyaḥ ca = tell; mahā-bāhuḥ = the mighty-armed Bharata; ikṣvāku-kula-nandanaḥ = the dear descendant of Ikṣvāku; pitaram = Our father; yauvarājyasthaḥ = as the crown prince; rājyastham = who is the chief ruler of the kingdom; anupālaya = obey; atikrānta-vayāḥ = well past his age; rājā = the king is; mā sma = do not; enam = him; vyavarorudhaḥ = oppose; kumāra-rājye = in your position as the crown prince; jīva tvam = live; tasya eva ājñā-pravartanāt = for that is his order.
“The king is well past his age. Do not oppose him. Live in your position as the crown prince for that is his order.” Tell the mighty-armed Bharata, the dear descendant of Ikṣvāku: “As the crown prince, obey Our father who is the chief ruler of the kingdom.”
“Live in your position” means “Enjoy as the crown prince.”
