तथैव रामोऽश्रुमुखः कृताञ्जलिः स्थितोऽभवल्लक्ष्मणबाहुपालितः।
तथैव सीता रुदती तपस्विनी निरीक्षते राजरथं तथैव माम्॥
tathaiva rāmo ’śru-mukhaḥ kṛtāñjaliḥ
sthito ’bhaval lakṣmaṇa-bāhu-pālitaḥ
tathaiva sītā rudatī tapasvinī
nirīkṣate rāja-rathaṁ tathaiva mām
tathā eva = thus; rāmaḥ = Rāma; aśru-mukhaḥ = His face was in tears; kṛta-añjaliḥ = His palms joined in supplication; sthitaḥ abhavat = stood; lakṣmaṇa-bāhu-pālitaḥ = and He was protected by the arms of Lakṣmaṇa; tathā eva = thus; sītā = Sītā; rudatī = she was crying; tapasvinī = and fixed in austerity; nirīkṣate = saw; rāja-ratham = the royal chariot; tathā eva = and; mām = me.
Thus Rāma stood with His palms joined in supplication. His face was in tears and He was protected by the arms of Lakṣmaṇa. Thus Sītā saw the royal chariot and me. She was crying and fixed in austerity.
