Chapter 59: Sumantra Describes the Agony of all Creatures in the Country
Text 2.59.1
इति ब्रुवन्तं तं सूतं सुमन्त्रं मन्त्रिसत्तमम्।
ब्रुह्यशेषं पुनरिति राजा वचनमब्रवीत्॥
iti bruvantaṁ taṁ sūtaṁ sumantraṁ mantri-sattamam
brūhy aśeṣaṁ punar iti rājā vacanam abravīt
iti = thus; bruvantam = had spoken; tam sūtam = when the sūta; sumantram = Sumantra; mantri-sattamam = an excellent minister; brūhi = tell me; aśeṣam = everything; punaḥ iti = again; rājā = the king; vacanam = the following words; abravīt = spoke.
When the sūta Sumantra, an excellent minister, had spoken thus, the king spoke the following words: “Tell me everything again.”
