Chapter 59: Sumantra Describes the Agony of all Creatures in the Country

जटाः कृत्वा महाराज चीरवल्कलधारिणौ।
गङ्गामुत्तीर्य तौ वीरौ प्रयागाभिमुखौ गतौ॥
jaṭāḥ kṛtvā mahā-rāja cīra-valkaladhāriṇau
gaṅgām uttīrya tau vīrau prayāgābhimukhau gatau
jaṭāḥ kṛtvā = having knotted Their hairs; mahā-rāja = Mahārāja; cīra-valkaladhāriṇau = who wore garments of bark; gaṅgām = Gaṅgā; uttīrya = crossed; tau vīrau = the heroic Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa; prayāga-abhimukhau = towards Prayāga; gatau = and went.
Mahārāja, having knotted Their hairs, the heroic Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa who wore garments of bark crossed Gaṅgā and went towards Prayāga.
