Chapter 59: Sumantra Describes the Agony of all Creatures in the Country
Text 2.59.24
भवितव्यतया नूनमिदं वा व्यसनं महत्।
कुलस्यास्य विनाशाय प्राप्तं सूत यदृच्छया॥
bhavitavyatayā nūnam idaṁ vā vyasanaṁ mahat
kulasyāsya vināśāya prāptaṁ sūta yadṛcchayā
bhavitavyatayā = of my sinful reactions; nūnam = may be; idam = this; vā vyasanam = calamity; mahat = great; kulasya = dynasty; asya = this; vināśāya = to destroy; prāptam = has arrived; sūta = Sūta; yadṛcchayā = by the unseen force.
Sūta, may be this great calamity has arrived to destroy this dynasty by the unseen force of my sinful reactions.1
