वधमप्रतिरूपं तु महर्षेस्तस्य राघवः।
विलपन्नेव धर्मात्मा कौसल्यां पुनरब्रवीत्॥
vadham apratirūpaṁ tu maha-rṣes tasya rāghavaḥ
vilapann eva dharmātmā kausalyāṁ punar abravīt
vadham = murder; apratirūpam tu = about that inappropriate; mahā-ṛṣeḥ tasya = of the great sage; rāghavaḥ = the descendant of Raghu; vilapan eva = while lamenting about his son; dharma-ātmā = whose mind was attached to dharma; kausalyām = to Kausalyā; punaḥ = again; abravīt = spoke.
While lamenting about his son, the descendant of Raghu, whose mind was attached to dharma, again spoke to Kausalyā about that inappropriate murder of the great sage.1
1 Here the ascetic is referred to as maharṣeḥ, indicating that he was a great sage. This itself refutes the idea that he was not a brāhmaṇa.
