Chapter 64: Daśaratha Gives up his Life in Remembrance of Lord Rāma

अज्ञानाद्भवतः पुत्रः सहसाभिहतो मया।
शेषमेवंगते यत्स्यात्तत्प्रसीदतु मे मुनिः॥
ajñānād bhavataḥ putraḥ sahasābhihato mayā
śeṣam evaṁ-gate yat syāt tat prasīdatu me muniḥ
ajñānāt = in ignorance; bhavataḥ = your; putraḥ = son; sahasā = rashly; abhihataḥ = killed; mayā = I have; śeṣam = remains to be done; evam-gate = after all that has transpired; yat syāt = whatever; tat = to do; prasīdatu = may you be pleased; me = with me; muniḥ = a sage.
I have rashly killed your son in ignorance. After all that has transpired, may you, a sage, be pleased to do whatever remains to be done with me.
Daśaratha wanted to convey to the sage, “Please do whatever you want to do, whether you want to curse or bless me.”
