Chapter 64: Daśaratha Gives up his Life in Remembrance of Lord Rāma
Text 2.64.23

यद्येतदशुभं कर्म न त्वं मे कथयेः स्वयम्।
फलेन्मूर्धा स्म ते राजन्सद्यः शतसहस्रधा॥

yady etad aśubhaṁ karma na tvaṁ me kathayeḥ svayam
phalen mūrdhā sma te rājan sadyaḥ śata-sahasradhā

yadi = if; etat = of this; aśubham = inauspicious; karma = activity [of yours]; na = not; tvam = you had; me = me; kathayeḥ = informed; svayam = personally; phalet = would have shattered; mūrdhā sma = head; te = your; rājan = O king; sadyaḥ = immediately; śata-sahasradhā = into hundreds and thousands of pieces.

O king, if you had not personally informed me of this inauspicious activity [of yours], your head would have immediately shattered into hundreds and thousands of pieces.

His head would have shattered into hundreds and thousands of pieces by the curse of this sage.
