Chapter 64: Daśaratha Gives up his Life in Remembrance of Lord Rāma

यान्ति शूरा गतिं यां च संग्रामेष्वनिवर्तिनः।
हतास्त्वभिमुखाः पुत्र गतिं तां परमां व्रज।।
yānti śūrā gatiṁ yāṁ ca saṅgrāmeṣv anivartinaḥ
hatās tv abhimukhāḥ putra gatiṁ tāṁ paramāṁ vraja
yānti = attain; śūrāḥ = heroes; gatim = the destination; yām ca = that; saṅgrāmeṣu = in war; anivartinaḥ = who don’t retreat; hatāḥ tu = when killed; abhimukhāḥ = that those who march forward; putra = O son; gatim = destination [attain]; tām = the; paramām = exalted; vraja = attain.
O son, attain the destination that heroes in war who don’t retreat attain, the exalted destination that that who march forward when killed [attain].1
