Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 64: Daśaratha Gives up his Life in Remembrance of Lord Rāma
Text 2.64.58

त्वामप्येतादृशो भावः क्षिप्रमेव गमिष्यति।
जीवितान्तकरो घोरो दातारमिव दक्षिणा॥

tvām apy etādṛśo bhāvaḥ kṣipram eva gamiṣyati
jīvitāntakaro ghoro dātāram iva dakṣiṇā

tvām api = you; etādṛśaḥ = similar [to mine]; bhāvaḥ = a fate; kṣipram eva = soon; gamiṣyati = will experience; jīvita-antakaraḥ = that will be a cause of the end of your life; ghoraḥ = terrible; dātāram = to the person who has given the gift; iva = just as; dakṣiṇā = the piety due to gifting goes.

Just as the piety due to gifting goes to the person who has given the gift, you will soon experience a fate similar [to mine] that will be a terrible cause of the end of your life.

“Similar fate” indicates that Daśaratha would suffer in the absence of his son.

“Soon” indicates that Daśaratha would experience the result [of suffering without his son] in this very life. He spoke of this out of extreme distress [due to being separated from] his son.
