Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 68: Vasiṣṭha’s Messengers go to Bring Bharata
Text 2.68.21

ते श्रान्तवाहना दूता विकृष्टेन पथा ततः।
गिरिव्रजं पुरवरं शीघ्रमासेदुरञ्जसा॥

te śrānta-vāhanā dūtā vikṛṣṭena pathā tataḥ
girivrajaṁ pura-varaṁ śīghram āsedur añjasā

te = the; śrānta-vāhanāḥ = on tired horses; dūtāḥ = messengers; vikṛṣṭena = through this difficult; pathā = pathway; tataḥ = then; girivrajam = Girivraja; pura-varam = to that excellent city; śīghram = quickly; āseduḥ añjasā = rushed.

Then the messengers quickly rushed to that excellent city Girivraja through this difficult pathway on tired horses.

That they had travelled through a difficult pathway indicates that they had traveled through a very long distance. Girivraja is another name [of Rājagṛhā], a city in Kekaya. Añjasā indicates that the messengers were very straightforward.1

1 Straightforward implies that they were not distracted on their way. They were focused.
