Chapter 69: Bharata’s Distressing Dreams
Text 2.69.8
स्वप्ने पितरमद्राक्षं मलिनं मुक्तमूर्धजम्।
पतन्तमद्रिशिखरात्कलुषे गोमयह्रदे॥
svapne pitaram adrākṣaṁ malinaṁ mukta-mūrdhajam
patantam adri-śikharāt kaluṣe gomaya-hrade
svapne = in a dream; pitaram = my father; adrākṣam = I saw; malinam = he was dirty; mukta-mūrdhajam = and his hair was scattered; patantam = I saw him falling; adri-śikharāt = from the top of a hill; kaluṣe = dirty; gomaya-hrade = into a lake of cow-dung.
“In a dream I saw my father. He was dirty and his hair was scattered. I saw him falling from the top of a hill into a dirty lake of cow-dung.
