Chapter 70: Bharata Departs from Rājagṛha
Text 2.70.13
भरतश्चापि तान्दूतानेवमुक्तोऽभ्यभाषत।
आपृच्छेऽहं महाराजं दूताः संन्त्वरयन्ति माम्॥
bharataś cāpi tān dūtān evam ukto ’bhyabhāṣata
āpṛcche ’haṁ mahā-rājaṁ dūtāḥ santvarayanti mām
bharataḥ ca api = Bharata; tān dūtān = to the messengers; evam = this; uktaḥ = when they told; abhyabhāṣata = He replied; āpṛcche aham = let Me take permission; mahā-rājam = from the Mahārāja [of Kekaya] by telling him; dūtāḥ = the messengers [from Ayodhyā]; santvarayanti = are hurrying; mām = Me [to go to Ayodhyā].
When they told Bharata this, He replied to the messengers, “Let Me take permission from the Mahārāja [of Kekaya] by telling him, ‘The messengers [from Ayodhyā] are hurrying Me [to go to Ayodhyā].’”
