Chapter 70: Bharata Departs from Rājagṛha
Text 2.70.16
भरतेनैवमुक्तस्तु नृपो मातामहस्तदा।
तमुवाच शुभं वाक्यं शिरस्याघ्राय राघवम्॥
bharatenaivam uktas tu nṛpo mātāmahas tadā
tam uvāca śubhaṁ vākyaṁ śirasyāghrāya rāghavam
bharatena = when Bharata; evam = this; uktaḥ tu = said; nṛpaḥ = the King of Kekaya; mātāmahaḥ = Bharata’s maternal grandfather; tadā tam = of that; uvāca = and spoke; śubham = the following auspicious; vākyam = words; śirasi = the head; āghrāya = smelt; rāghavam = descendant of Raghu.
When Bharata said this, the King of Kekaya, Bharata’s maternal grandfather, smelt the head of that descendant of Raghu and spoke the following auspicious words.
