एलाधाने नदीं तीर्त्वा प्राप्य चापरपर्पटान्।
शिलामाकुर्वतीं तीर्त्वा आग्नेयं शल्यकर्तनम्॥
सत्यसंधः शुचिः श्रीमान्प्रेक्षमाणः शिलावहाम्।
अत्ययात्स महाशैलान्वनं चैत्ररथं प्रति॥
elādhāne nadīṁ tīrtvā prāpya cāparaparpaṭān
śilām ākurvatīṁ tīrtvā āgneyaṁ śalyakartanam
satyasandhaḥ śuciḥ śrīmān prekṣamāṇaḥ śilāvahām
atyayāt sa mahā-śailān vanaṁ caitrarathaṁ prati
elādhāne = in Elādhāna; nadīm = that river; tīrtvā = having crossed; prāpya = He reached; ca aparaparpaṭān = Aparaparpaṭa; śilām = pebbles; ākurvatīm = that brought together; tīrtvā = He then crossed over; āgneyam = that was south-east of that river; śalyakartanam = the city Śalyakartana; satyasandhaḥ = being truthful to His promises; śuciḥ = and pure; śrīmān = the handsome; prekṣamāṇaḥ = and then saw; śilāvahām = the river Śilāvahā; atyayāt = then crossed; saḥ = Bharata; mahā-śailān = great mountains; vanam = the forest; caitraratham = Caitraratha; prati = and went towards.
Having crossed that river in Elādhāna He reached Aparaparpaṭa. He then crossed over the river Śilāvahā that brought together pebbles and then saw the city Śalyakartana that was south-east of that river. Being truthful to His promises and pure, the handsome Bharata then crossed great mountains and went towards the forest Caitraratha.
Elādhāna was a city where a lot of sheep were grown. Bharata crossed the river Śatadrū. There were two villages, Purvaparpaṭa and Aparaparpaṭa, and medicinal plants named Parpaṭa grew near these two villages. The party reached Aparaparpaṭa for rest and then crossed the river Śilāvahā. Caitraratha was a forest that was equal to Caitraratha [of the demigods].
Out of His great eagerness to see Daśaratha, Bharata even crossed great mountains.
