tāṁ purīṁ puruṣa-vyāghraḥ sapta-rātroṣitaḥ pathi
ayodhyām agrato dṛṣṭvā sārathiṁ vākyam abravīt

tām purīm = the city; puruṣa-vyāghraḥ = Prince Bharata; sapta-rātra-uṣitaḥ = had stayed awake for seven nights; pathi = on the way; ayodhyām = of Ayodhyā; agrataḥ = ahead of Him; dṛṣṭvā = He now saw; sārathim = to His charioteer; vākyam = the [following] words; abravīt = and spoke.

Prince Bharata had stayed awake for seven nights on the way. He now saw the city of Ayodhyā ahead of Him and spoke the [following] words to His charioteer.

Bharata had traveled even at night because of His extreme eagerness. He saw Ayodhyā on the sunrise of the eighth day [since His departure from Rājagṛha] and spoke to His charioteer.
