Chapter 72: Kaikeyī Informs Bharata About Daśaratha’s Death
Text 2.72.33
पिता हि भवति ज्येष्ठो धर्ममार्यस्य जानतः।
तस्य पादौ गृहीष्यामि स हीदानीं गतिर्मम॥
pitā hi bhavati jyeṣṭho dharmam āryasya jānataḥ
tasya pādau gṛhīṣyāmi sa hīdānīṁ gatir mama
pitā hi bhavati = is his father; jyeṣṭhaḥ = the elder brother; dharmam = dharma; āryasya = of a person; jānataḥ = who knows; tasya = His; pādau = feet; gṛhīṣyāmi = therefore, I will grasp; saḥ hi = He is; idānīm = now; gatiḥ = shelter; mama = My.
“The elder brother of a person who knows dharma is his father. Therefore, I will grasp His feet. He is now My shelter.
