Chapter 74: Bharata Condemns Kaikeyī
Text 2.74.20

तां दृष्ट्वा शोकसन्तप्तां वज्रपाणिर्यशस्विनीम्।
इन्द्रः प्राञ्जलिरुद्विग्नः सुरराजोऽब्रवीद्वचः॥

tāṁ dṛṣṭvā śoka-santaptāṁ vajra-pāṇir yaśasvinīm
indraḥ prāñjalir udvignaḥ sura-rājo ’bravīd vacaḥ

tām = surabhi; dṛṣṭvā = saw and; śoka-santaptām = consumed by sorrow; vajra-pāṇiḥ = and the wielder of the thunderbolt; yaśasvinīm = the illustrious; indraḥ = Indra; prāñjaliḥ = he joined his palms in supplication; udvignaḥ = and became filled with anxiety; sura-rājaḥ = the king of the devas; abravīt = and spoke; vacaḥ = the following words [to her].

Indra, the king of the devas and the wielder of the thunderbolt, saw the illustrious surabhi consumed by sorrow and became filled with anxiety. He joined his palms in supplication and spoke the following words [to her].
