Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 74: Bharata Condemns Kaikeyī
Text 2.74.26

यस्याः पुत्रसहस्रैस्तु कृत्स्नं व्याप्तमिदं जगत्।
तान्दृष्ट्वा रुदतीं शक्रो न सुतान्मन्यते परम्॥

yasyāḥ putra-sahasrais tu kṛtsnaṁ vyāptam idaṁ jagat
tāṁ dṛṣṭvā rudatīṁ śakro na sutān manyate param

yasyāḥ = Surabhi’s; putra-sahasraiḥ tu = thousands of sons; kṛtsnam = entire; vyāptam = have filled up through her lineages; idam = this; jagat = world; tām = her; dṛṣṭvā = seeing; rudatīm = cry; śakraḥ = Indra; na = there is none; sutāt = to a son; manyate = considered that; param = superior.

Surabhi’s thousands of sons have filled up this entire world through her lineages. Seeing her cry, Indra considered that there is none superior to a son.1

This is a statement by the poet Śrī Vālmīki.
