Chapter 75: Bharata’s Conversation with Kausalyā-devī

राजस्त्रीबालवृद्धानां वधे यत्पापमुच्यते।
भृत्यत्यागे च यत्पापं तत्पापं प्रतिपद्यताम्॥
rāja-strī-bāla-vṛddhānāṁ vadhe yat pāpam ucyate
bhṛtya-tyāge ca yat pāpaṁ tat pāpaṁ pratipadyatām
rāja-strī-bāla-vṛddhānām = a bona fide king, woman, child or elder; vadhe = due to murdering; yat pāpam = the sin; ucyate = described [in the Dharma-śāstras]; bhṛtya-tyāge = due to rejecting a dependant servant; ca = and; yat pāpam = the sin; tat pāpam = the sinful reactions; pratipadyatām = may he attain.
May he attain the sinful reactions described [in the Dharma-śāstras]: the sin due to murdering a bona fide king, woman, child or elder, and the sin due to rejecting a dependant servant.
