Chapter 76: Bharata Performs the Final Rites for Daśaratha
Text 2.76.2

अलं शोकेन भद्रं ते राजपुत्र महायशः।
प्राप्तकालं नरपतेः कुरु संयानमुत्तमम्॥

alaṁ śokena bhadraṁ te rāja-putra mahā-yaśaḥ
prāpta-kālaṁ nara-pateḥ kuru saṁyānam uttamam

alam = enough of; śokena = this distress; bhadram = may there be auspiciousness; te = unto You; rāja-putra = O prince; mahā-yaśaḥ = of great fame; prāpta-kālam = since their time has arrived; nara-pateḥ = for the king; kuru = perform; saṁyānam = final rites; uttamam = the appropriate.

O prince of great fame, enough of this distress! May there be auspiciousness unto You! Perform the appropriate final rites for the king since their time has arrived.

Saṁyānam indicates that these rites would lead [the king] to the heavens.
