Chapter 76: Bharata Performs the Final Rites for Daśaratha
Text 2.76.22
ततो रुदन्त्यो विवशा विलप्य च पुनःपुनः।
यानेभ्यः सरयूतीरमवतेरूर्वराङ्गनाः॥
tato rudantyo vivaśā vilapya ca punaḥ punaḥ
yānebhyaḥ sarayū-tīram avaterur varāṅganāḥ
tataḥ = then; rudantyaḥ = while crying; vivaśāḥ = helplessly; vilapya = lamenting; ca = and; punaḥ punaḥ = repeatedly; yānebhyaḥ = from their vehicles; sarayū-tīram = on the bank of the Sarayū; avateruḥ = descended; vara-aṅganāḥ = those excellent women.
Those excellent women then descended from their vehicles on the bank of the Sarayū while helplessly and repeatedly crying and lamenting.
