Chapter 78: Śatrughna Punishes Mantharā
Text 2.78.14
आमन्त्रयत कृतस्नश्च तस्याः सर्वः सखीजनः।
यथायं समुपक्रान्तो निःशेषान्नः करिष्यति॥
āmantrayata kṛtsnaś ca tasyāḥ sarvaḥ sakhī-janaḥ
yathāyaṁ samupakrānto niḥśeṣān naḥ kariṣyati
āmantrayata = called each other; kṛtsnaḥ1 ca tasyāḥ = her; sarvaḥ = all of; sakhī-janaḥ = other companions; yathā ayam samupakrāntaḥ = considering the way Śatrughna has dealt [with her]; niḥśeṣān = annihilate; naḥ = all of us; kariṣyati = He will certainly.
All of her other companions called each other: “Considering the way Śatrughna has dealt [with her], He will certainly annihilate all of us.
GLOSS. [The second line can mean:] “Śatrughna has [already] begun [to act and] He will fully annihilate all of us.”1
